Ariel: A Virginia Commonwealth University Graduate | Maymont | Richmond Virginia Photographer

Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future".

I first met Ariel at Mill Creek Baptist Church when we were kids and over the years, our families have grown close & we've been on so many adventures together. Now, she's all grown up and graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University and I couldn't be more proud of her. I made the trip up to Richmond, Virginia to visit her and capture her biggest academic achievement. Although we've had severals snows this spring, she was bound determined to have some pops of color in her pictures and what better place then Maymont? I think its safe to say, she had a great idea! Those colors were perfect in every way, just like she is! Congratulations my dear, I can't wait to see what God has in store for your future!

Kendra: A Sunset Senior Session | James River High School | Virginia Senior Portrait Photographer

Where do I even begin? Let's start at the beginning.

Kendra and I have known each other since she was a little girl. I know that's so cliche to say but it's true and now, I feel old. Even though we are nearly 10 years apart, we've grown up with each other through church and when her and her mother contacted me to do her senior portraits, life stopped for a moment. Little Kendra, now a gorgeous & spirited young lady, is graduating high school? Yes...

When deciding the location for her senior session, nothing made more sense than to photograph her in our hometown of Buchanan, Virginia. Even more so, photographing her alongside the James River at sunset. Gorgeous girl + the river + Purgatory Mountain + a sunset.... you seriously can't ask for a better combo. Until, she brings her best friend (who I used to babysit) to make her laugh & dress her, her momma to provide kind support and her pup to make the shoot more entertaining!

An hour & a half, had gone by and I simply couldn't stop. There she was, all grown up & just as sweet as she's always been, modeling for me as if it were her profession. Changing from all sorts of combinations of clothes and bouncing from section to section of the river, she fashionedeach differing outfit change with pure poise. During one of her changes I asked for her class ring. After photographing it in several different angles, she then explained the ring actually wasn't hers. The class ring she was wearing belonged to her Aunt Clara, who graduated from the same James River High School in the 60's. I was shocked, I didn't even notice. To those who are reading this, I can't make this stuff up. Just a gentle girl, pursuing a genuine life.

Kendra, I am so excited to see your future blossom before you. You have so much to look forward to and remember to stay kind, trust in the Lord & keep laughing. Congratulations girl,
Class of 2017!

Oh you know....Eva just being the best assistant ever! Best friend bloopers are the best!
