Carvins Cove | Lake Session | Virginia Wedding Photographer

In the last couple of months, Virginia really has surprised me and my wandering imagination. Although I’ve traveled all over the world, I’ve often taken my home state and the beauty it provides for granted in some ways. Yes, I know it’s gorgeous and I’ve recently realized that each part of this state provides a scenery much like other locations worldwide.

One of the ways I’ve seen this is when I met Kevin & Courtney! These two love birds were engaged at Mowich Lake in Washington state near the famous Mount Rainer and when we started looking for locations for their engagement session in Virginia, they wanted a similar view! We tossed some ideas around and although the surrounding mountains are not as tall, Carvins Cove was the perfect location! It has the most beautiful view of the Appalachian Mountains and provides the most spectacular sunsets for any photo session, especially engagement photos!

When it came time to meet at Carvins Cove for their lake session, the clouds rolled in like a comforter covering the sky to secure the most perfect lighting! To get into the groove of being in front of the camera versus behind it (Kevin works in production), they practiced their dancing skills, walked alongside the reservoir and snuggled in for some sweet sunset kisses as the sun popped between the clouds. I know their December wedding will provide just as much laughter & love but until then, I know they’ll hold onto these moments to cherish!
