She’s from Philly, he’s from Memphis. After dating for 5 years and countless hints of an empty finger, Witt was ready to plan his surprise proposal to Maddie and no detail was left unturned! Having picked the most gorgeous oval diamond ring from Ring Concierge and planning an entire day with the help of Maddie’s best friend Kendra, everything was perfect.
To keep Maddie occupied through the day, Kendra, Maddie & their mommas went winery hopping in Charlottesville while the celebration back at Maddie’s townhouse was being prepared. Decorated from top to bottom, there were presents, champagne, custom handmade cookies, catered food and more to truly celebrate this occasion. Being a proposal photographer, while Witt was in contact with Kendra the entire day, I was constantly monitoring the weather as thunderstorms rolled in at the time we had planned for everything to go down. Well, we were correct. Thunderstorms came rolling in and actually hindered Kendra & Maddie from getting to their proposal site on time. So much so that they had to pull over on the side of the road because they couldn’t see while driving. But everything worked out and even though Witt had to set everything up in the rain and we all go completely soaked, by the time Kendra was able to come drop Maddie off, the rain slowed down and it was magical!
Witt chose Windfall Hill, a spot they often frequented while living in Lexington Virginia to watch the sun set over House Mountain on both date nights and just because. With having a golden retriever together (Westley), we knew he had to play a part in the process and let me just say, Westley was a champion and stole the show. Grinning ear to ear with excitement, I think it’s obvious he is excited his parents were getting married! After soaking up the moments, popping the champagne & taking some celebratory pictures, we headed back to Maddie’s where most of their friends and family were waiting to scream, hug & love on the newly engaged couple. If you can’t tell by her emotions, she was 100000% surprised.

By far the best reaction I could have imagined! As if the day could not have gotten better, they had arrived to the party! Mind you, it was like 8:30p so needless to say, everyone was ready for group photos, cake, food & drinks to celebrate!
