Day One: Dominican Republic Mission Trip - A Personal Post

The adventure is on & we have landed!

Day 1 started off at 4:30a with 5 hours of sleep without sharing a bed with an 80 lb lab....and that was a different experience all in itself. After meeting at Mill Creek Baptist Church, we saddled up and headed to Reagan National Airport to catch our first flight to Miami. From there, we flew Miami to the Dominican. For those who don't know, I love flying but...WHEW, it's been a long day of travel!

My church has taken a group to the Dominican for several years now & this is my first. I'm traveling with my parents, which is always a treat but getting to experience what they come home & talk about year after year is something I've been looking forward to for a very long time. This trip has had it's fair share of flexibility though & travel tip #1 is ALWAYS be flexible! Travel tip #2, pack a lightly as possible. Final travel tip for the night, expand your horizons.  From food to the situations you find yourself in, keep an open mind (more travel tips to come in future posts). As for now, we have arrived in the Dominican and this photog is TIRED! Sadly, I am only able to upload iPhone photos but, as Kat Schmoyer said at the Creative at Heart Conference past weekend, "Done is better than perfect"! So without further adieu, I give you......Day 1 in our adventures to the Dominican!

Enjoy & stayed tuned for Day 2 adventures tomorrow, as there will be a much bigger post & LOTS more photos!

Tomato Juice mid-flight, it's a tradition I've always done & I'm sticking to it!

For those who are wondering.....yes, I was blessed to have both flights at the window!!!

There it is!!!

Stay tuned tomorrow for Day 2!
